"Mankind Stands Tallest When It Stoops To Help Another"

Everyone Needs Some Hope!

In the past, U.S. humanitarian aid was intended for providing funding for food, medicine, and shelter to both developing and war-torn nations.  Due to the recent shift in the political climate in the U.S. , humanitarian aid is being expanded to include projects that provide, “Substantial and Sustainable Social and Economic Effort”.  This new, expanded definition is intended to allow infrastructure projects that target breaking the poverty cycle, i.e., education, roads, communications, etc. to be funded.

In 1910, a baby girl was born in a little farm town in Upstate New York by teh name of Hope.  Living in marginal surroundings she was blessed with unusual talent and determination. After overcoming a bout with polio as a young school girl she played the piano for the new Silent Movies to earn money to help support the family.  Soon she was on to college receiving her MS in Fine Arts in 1934, from New York University .  Quite an accomplishment in those times!

  • While teaching art on Long Island , she married an aspiring young educator.  She honed her skills on the seascapes of Greenport, Shelter Island and the Hamptons .  To this day many an old Inn has a picture of hers on their walls.

  • Eventually they moved to their beloved Finger Lakes, teaching in the universities and schools of that region while never missing a moment to paint another water color of those spectacular surroundings.  Along the way she blossomed into a concert pianist and did art exhibitions with the noted national artists of her day!

  • They dreamed of the day when they would paint and golf their way around the world.  Unfortunately poor health did them in before they could live their fantasy.

  • However, everyone she touched felt the Master’s Touch in the beauty of her creations and her humble heart.  You see, Hope, gave Hope to the world everyday of her life!

  • Today, a portion of her pieces have been set aside in "The Hope Collection”, an online collection of the work of people living "Fruitful Lives" of Servant Leadership, so that people can pick their favorites, have prints made and donate the proceeds to the charity of their choice!

By themselves the paintings of this collection are most inspiring; however, it would be Hope’s wish to collaborate with other artists as well.  So, there is an open invitation to others to contribute to this effort too. It’s a wonderful opportunity to gain exposure, develop a new cash stream and help some others in the process.

  •  And a PS!  The idea of “Giving Hope to the World Each Day” has now evolved into The Hope Collection a Non-profit 501c3

  • What can you do? Get involved! It doesn't have to be in fine arts.  If you or someone you know has a project and would like to participate in spreading “Hope” forward the completed invitation.

Alas, please take a moment to view the gallery, make a selection and pass some “Hope” along!

It’s a Beautiful Story!
